TONG PEY HAW

Studio Phax / Principal

Pey Haw is a registered architect who believes in a holistic approach to the discipline. He is deeply involved not only in the conceptualization of design, but also in its execution and management—transforming aspirations into reality. In his work, he strives for creative solutions tailored to each project’s unique brief and challenges. He is also a designer with a keen eye for detail.

Pey Haw is a firm believer in continuing education. In his pursuit of self-improvement, he has successfully attained additional qualifications and certifications, including Certified Green Mark Manager (BCA), Certified Universal Design Assessor (BCA), and Certified Design for Safety Professionals (DfS Pro).

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Pey Haw studied Architecture and Urban Planning. He began his tertiary education at the National University of Singapore, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture. He later furthered his education at TU Delft in the Netherlands, graduating with a Master of Science in 2005.

Upon graduation, Pey Haw returned to Singapore and began his professional career at MKPL Architects. During this time, he was involved in several high-end condominium developments, including projects along Devonshire Road and Duchess Avenue.

In 2008, Pey Haw joined ONG&ONG. Between 2008 and 2015, he completed numerous residential developments, most notably Hundred Trees Condominium and City Square Residences. He also contributed to City Square Mall, a retail development with 65,000 sqm of leasable space. Additionally, he gained valuable international experience working on projects such as a wellness resort and commercial development in Sungai Pulai (Malaysia), a 40-storey residential tower in Johor (Malaysia), a mixed-use development in Yangon (Myanmar), and residential developments in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).

In 2015, Pey Haw joined Aedas Limited, where he led the conceptualization and design of large-scale developments including a smart city residential and commercial project, and Soleil Danang, a mixed-use complex comprising serviced apartments, condominiums, and commercial spaces in Danang, Vietnam.

In 2016, Pey Haw returned to ONG&ONG, where he continues to practice to this day. Since his return, he has led both the design and execution of a variety of projects in hospitality, residential, and transportation sectors. Notable works include Artyzen Hotel (a luxury hotel on Cuscaden Road, Singapore), Citadines Hotel with a commercial component in Serangoon Road, a condominium development in Floral Drive, residential developments in Tampines, and infrastructure projects such as Bahar Junction and Jurong West MRT stations in Singapore.

In 2024, Pey Haw founded Studio Phax, where he brings his extensive experience and holistic design philosophy to a new generation of architectural practice.
